Balearic Islands

Luxury yacht charter · Mediterranean

The Balearic Islands — Ibiza, Mallorca, Formentera, and Menorca — are Spain's jewel in the Mediterranean crown. Diverse, vibrant, and endlessly beautiful, the Balearics offer something for every type of charter guest, from the world-famous party scene of Ibiza to the tranquil coves of Menorca.

Overview

Each of the four main islands has a completely different character. Together they form one of the world's most popular and rewarding cruising grounds, with turquoise water, consistent summer sunshine, and an outstanding variety of anchorages within easy reach of each other.

Key Ports & Anchorages

  • Ibiza Town (Eivissa) — The iconic UNESCO-listed old town dominates the hilltop above a spectacular harbour. World-famous clubs, excellent restaurants, and a vibrant marina scene. Drop anchor in Talamanca Bay for easier access.
  • Formentera — Just 30 minutes by tender from Ibiza, Formentera's Ses Illetes beach offers the finest white sand and turquoise water in the Balearics. Often compared to the Caribbean.
  • Palma de Mallorca — Sophisticated capital with a stunning Gothic cathedral, excellent marinas, and a thriving restaurant scene. The base for most Mallorca charters.
  • Puerto Portals, Mallorca — The Riviera of Mallorca. Luxury marina with exceptional restaurants and boutiques. A favourite port of call for high-end charters.
  • Mahón, Menorca — One of the largest natural harbours in the world. The quieter, more unspoiled island with spectacular inland scenery and pristine beaches.
  • Cala d'Or, Mallorca — A series of beautiful small coves on Mallorca's southeastern coast — perfect for swimming and snorkelling in calm conditions.

Best Time to Charter

Peak season: July – August. The islands are at their most lively — and busiest. June and September are arguably the best months: excellent weather, warm water, fewer crowds, and more reasonable rates. May is ideal for those who prefer quiet coves and cooler evenings.

Highlights

  • Sunset at Cafe del Mar, Ibiza — a Balearic institution
  • Snorkelling in the crystal water of Formentera's Ses Illetes
  • Lunch at Nobu Ibiza Bay or Es Ventall in Ibiza Town
  • Cap de Formentor, Mallorca — dramatic lighthouse at the island's northern tip
  • Cova den Xoroi, Menorca — bar built into a sea cave, spectacular sunset views
  • Local ensaimada pastries and Mallorcan wines

Practical Information

The Balearics are well-served for provisions, fuel, and technical support — particularly in Palma and Ibiza. Spanish regulations apply; your charter agreement will be under MYBA terms. Note that some protected anchorages in Menorca and Formentera require anchor permits in peak season.
