7-Night Amalfi & Capri Classic — Naples to Salerno
Route Overview
The Route
Day 1 — Naples: Embarkation
Board at the Mergellina marina in Naples — a city of extraordinary energy and culinary culture. A brief orientation before heading to dinner at one of the famous pizzerias in the Quartieri Spagnoli — the birthplace of pizza as you know it.
Day 2 — Capri
The short crossing from Naples to Capri is one of the great arrivals in Mediterranean yachting. Anchor in the Marina Grande and take the funicular up to Capri town — the piazzetta, designer boutiques and views over the Faraglioni rock formations. Sunset drinks at the Aurora terrace, dinner at Il Riccio overlooking the Blue Grotto.
Day 3 — Capri: Blue Grotto & Anacapri
A morning visit to the famous Blue Grotto by dinghy before the tour boats arrive. Take the chairlift up to Anacapri for lunch and visit the Villa San Michele. Spend a second night at anchor — Capri at dusk, with the lights of Naples in the distance, is unforgettable.
Day 4 — Positano
Sail along the dramatic Amalfi cliff face to Positano — anchor off the beach and go ashore by tender. The boutique-lined streets climb steeply through layers of bougainvillea. Lunch at La Sponda or Da Adolfo (only accessible by boat — your captain will know the way); dinner on the beach at Il Tridente.
Day 5 — Amalfi & Ravello
Continue east to Amalfi town — berth in the small harbour or anchor off. The Cathedral of Sant'Andrea is remarkable; the Arsenal museum tells the story of the great medieval maritime republic. A car can be arranged to Ravello, high above the coast, for Villa Cimbrone's infinity terrace and the best view on the entire coast.
Day 6 — Ischia
Sail around Punta Campanella to Ischia — the volcanic island famous for its thermal springs. Anchor at Sant'Angelo, the most atmospheric village, or at Cartaromana below the Aragonese Castle. Dinner at Ristorante Mezzatorre on the northern coast.
Day 7 — Procida
The smallest and least commercialised of the Gulf islands — a tight harbour of fishing boats and colourful houses that served as inspiration for the 1994 film Il Postino. A morning walk through the pastel streets, fresh seafood lunch, and an afternoon passage back towards Naples or Salerno.
Day 8 — Salerno: Disembarkation
Disembarkation at Salerno marina. Naples Airport is 45 minutes north; alternatively, Salerno station connects directly to Rome in 2.5 hours.
