10-Night Bahamas Complete — Miami to Nassau

7 nights Monaco → Antibes ~85 nm

Route Overview

The Route

Day 1 — Miami: Embarkation

Board at Coconut Grove Marina or Island Gardens Marina in Miami. An evening exploring Wynwood Art District, the Art Deco architecture of South Beach or Bayside Marketplace. Welcome dinner ashore — Miami's dining scene is world-class.

Day 2 — Bimini

A 50-mile crossing east to Bimini — the closest Bahamian island to the United States. Hemingway lived here and wrote about the extraordinary blue-water fishing; the Bimini Road (an underwater rock formation thought by some to be Atlantis) is a fascinating dive or snorkel site. The Lerner Marine Laboratory is a landmark. Overnight at the Bimini Big Game Club Marina.

Day 3 — Nassau

A full-day passage south and east to Nassau. Arrive at Nassau Harbour — British colonial architecture, the straw market, the Queen's Staircase (66 steps carved by hand by slaves, each representing a year of Queen Victoria's reign). Dinner at Graycliff Restaurant in the historic mansion.

Day 4 — Blue Lagoon Island & Paradise Island

Explore the waters around Nassau by yacht — the Blue Lagoon nature reserve (dolphins, sea lions and excellent snorkelling), the extraordinary Atlantis casino resort on Paradise Island, and the famous swimming pool complex. Overnight at Nassau Harbour Club.

Day 5 — Eleuthera: Harbour Island (Pink Sand Beach)

A 50-mile passage northeast to Harbour Island — one of the most exclusive small islands in the Caribbean. The pink sand beach (the colour comes from crushed coral) is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Dunmore Town has pastel clapboard houses, excellent restaurants (Rock House, The Landing) and an atmosphere of relaxed luxury.

Day 6 — Glass Window Bridge

A short passage along Eleuthera's western coast to the extraordinary Glass Window Bridge — the narrowest point of Eleuthera, where the deep blue Atlantic Ocean meets the turquoise Exuma Sound across a strip of land barely 30 metres wide. The colour contrast is one of the most dramatic sights in the Bahamas.

Day 7 — Highborne Cay

Enter the Exumas — the clearest water in the Bahamas begins here. Highborne Cay marina, a reef snorkel with nurse sharks, and the first of many turquoise anchorages.

Day 8 — Warderick Wells & Exuma Park

The Exuma Land and Sea Park — Warderick Wells headquarters, Boo Boo Hill and the extraordinary protected marine environment.

Day 9 — Staniel Cay: Swimming Pigs & Thunderball Grotto

The highlights of the Exumas: the swimming pigs of Big Major Cay (arrive early morning) and the James Bond Thunderball Grotto at Staniel Cay. The social atmosphere at Staniel Cay Yacht Club is legendary.

Day 10 — George Town: Final Day

Arrive in Elizabeth Harbour, Great Exuma — one of the finest anchorages in the Bahamas. The weekly fish fry at Stocking Island, a final dive on the blue holes nearby, and a farewell dinner ashore.

Day 11 — Disembarkation

Disembarkation at Great Exuma International Airport or return to Nassau for worldwide connections.
