7-Night Dalmatian Discovery — Split to Dubrovnik
Route Overview
The Route
Day 1 — Split: Embarkation
Board at ACI Marina Spinut in Split. A walk through Diocletian's Palace — a Roman emperor's retirement home that became an entire medieval city — and dinner in one of the restaurants built into the ancient walls. Split is one of the most remarkable living archaeological sites in Europe.
Day 2 — Brač Island & Bol
A short morning crossing to the island of Brač. Anchor off Zlatni Rat — the famous horn-shaped pebble beach that shifts direction with the current — and spend the day swimming and exploring. Lunch at one of the beach restaurants; overnight in the charming town of Bol.
Day 3 — Hvar
Sail along the northern coast of Hvar to the town of the same name — one of the most sophisticated small towns in the Adriatic. The Venetian loggia, the Arsenal theatre (the oldest in Europe), the fortress above the town and the fragrant lavender fields inland. Hvar's restaurant scene is the best in Croatia: try Gariful or Zori.
Day 4 — Vis Island
The most remote of the major Dalmatian islands — only accessible by yacht or a twice-daily ferry. Vis town has a beautiful bay, excellent local wines (Vugava and Plavac Mali) and the famous Konoba Bako restaurant. In the afternoon, take the tender to Biševo and the legendary Blue Cave — lit by sunlight refracted through an underwater opening.
Day 5 — Korčula
Sail east to Korčula — one of the best-preserved medieval walled towns in the Adriatic, thought by some to be the birthplace of Marco Polo. The old town occupies the tip of a peninsula; the Cathedral of Saint Mark has a remarkable interior and the Marco Polo Museum is worth a visit. Superb local wine and excellent fresh fish.
Day 6 — Mljet National Park
The most beautiful national park in Croatia — two-thirds of the island is protected, including two salt-water lakes connected by a narrow channel. Hire bicycles to circumnavigate the lakes, swim in the clear water and visit the 12th-century Benedictine monastery on the islet in the middle of the larger lake.
Day 7 — Dubrovnik: Approach & Exploration
Sail into the waters below the walls of Dubrovnik — the approach by sea is one of the most dramatic in all of yachting. Anchor in Gruž harbour or at the island of Lokrum. An afternoon walk on the famous City Walls, dinner in the old town at Nautika or 360 with views over the sea.
Day 8 — Dubrovnik: Disembarkation
A final morning exploring Dubrovnik — the Rector's Palace, the Franciscan pharmacy (one of the oldest in Europe) and the cable car to Mount Srđ. Disembarkation at ACI Marina Dubrovnik; airport transfers arranged.
