7-Night Adriatic Hidden Gems — Kotor to Budva
Route Overview
The Route
Day 1 — Kotor: Embarkation
Board at Porto Montenegro in Tivat, then sail the short distance into Boka Bay to moor at Kotor's Cruise Terminal quay. An afternoon walk around the spectacular medieval walls that climb 1,350 steps up the mountain above the city. Dinner in the old town — Galion restaurant overlooking the water.
Day 2 — Perast & Our Lady of the Rocks
A morning visit to Perast — one of the most beautiful Baroque towns on the Adriatic, with 16 churches and 12 palaces for a population of barely 350. By tender to the artificial island of Our Lady of the Rocks — built stone by stone by sailors over centuries, filled with votive offerings and silver ex-votos. A profoundly moving sight.
Day 3 — Herceg Novi & The Bay Entrance
Sail to the mouth of Boka Bay and Herceg Novi — a pleasant town of flowers and fortresses with an excellent old town, and views across to Croatia. The Kanli Kula fortress offers panoramic views over the entire bay and the open Adriatic beyond.
Day 4 — Budva
The best-known town on Montenegro's open coast — a compact walled old town of Venetian inspiration, a lively promenade and the most active beach club scene in the country. Anchor off the medieval walls or use the city marina. A walk to the hilltop above the old town for the view at sunset.
Day 5 — Sveti Stefan
One of the most photographed views in the Adriatic — the 15th-century fishing village of Sveti Stefan is connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway, now operated as an ultra-luxury Aman resort. Non-guests can admire from the water; the beach on either side of the causeway is public and excellent.
Day 6 — Bar & Ulcinj
Continue south to Bar — the main port city, less beautiful than Kotor but with an extraordinary ruined medieval town (Stari Bar) perched on the hillside above. Continue to Ulcinj, Montenegro's southernmost town, with a large sandy beach and an old town with Ottoman-era architecture.
Day 7 — Return to Kotor
A scenic return passage through the bay, with a final evening in Kotor's old town — the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon, the Byzantine clock tower and a farewell dinner at one of the terrace restaurants within the walls.
Day 8 — Disembarkation
Disembarkation at Porto Montenegro, Tivat. Tivat Airport is 5 minutes by taxi; Dubrovnik Airport (Croatia) is 90 minutes north by road.
