Luxury yacht charter · Mediterranean

Overview

The Turkish Riviera — stretching from Bodrum and the Gulf of Gökova through Marmaris, Göcek, Fethiye and Kaş to Kekova in the east — is one of the Mediterranean's most dramatically beautiful cruising grounds. Pine-forested mountains plunge into clear turquoise water; ancient Lycian tombs and sunken cities emerge from the shallows; and a network of perfectly protected bays offers some of the finest anchorages anywhere in the region. Turkey also represents outstanding value for money.

Key Ports & Anchorages

  • Bodrum: The charter capital of Turkey — a vibrant town built around a 15th-century Crusader castle. Excellent facilities, sophisticated restaurants and a lively marina scene.
  • Göcek: A small, elegant town at the head of the Gulf of Fethiye — the base for exploring the 12 Islands area, one of the most beautiful sailing grounds in Turkey.
  • Kekova: The sunken city at Kekova island is one of Turkey's most extraordinary sights — Lycian ruins slip below the surface, visible through crystal-clear water.
  • Kaş: A charming small town with excellent diving, a Lycian rock tomb in the main square and the nearby island of Meis (Kastellorizo) in Greece just 2 miles offshore.
  • Bozburun: A traditional wooden boat-building village in a spectacular peninsula setting — unspoiled, authentic and peaceful.

Best Season

May to October. The Turkish Riviera enjoys some of the most reliable weather in the Mediterranean — the Meltem blows in July and August but is generally less fierce than in the Greek islands. Avoid August if possible; May, June and September are ideal.

Charter Considerations

Turkey is outside the EU — different VAT regulations apply, and Turkish transit logs are required. APA typically 25–30%. Turkish Lira but USD and Euro widely accepted. The Turkish Riviera offers exceptional value compared to Western Mediterranean destinations. Gulets (traditional Turkish wooden vessels) are widely available as an alternative to motor or sailing yachts.
