Key Islands & Anchorages

Hydra: The most celebrated island in the Saronic — entirely car-free (donkeys are the only transport), with a perfect horseshoe harbour of graceful stone mansions. A favourite of artists, writers and the international creative community. Anchor in the outer harbour or moor alongside in the inner port.
Spetses: A pine-scented island of Venetian-influenced architecture — beautiful beaches, excellent tavernas and a proud naval tradition. The old harbour is delightful for evening dining.
Poros: Separated from the Peloponnese mainland by a narrow strait of extraordinary beauty — the passage past the clock tower is one of the most charming approaches in Greek yachting.
Aegina: Closest to Athens — the Temple of Aphaia is one of the best-preserved ancient Greek temples in existence, and the island produces the finest pistachios in Greece.
Epidaurus (mainland): A short sail from Hydra — the ancient theatre of Epidaurus, with perfect acoustics and performances of classical drama in summer, is an unforgettable experience.

Best Season

May to October. The Saronic is generally sheltered and suitable for all levels of sailing experience. The ancient site of Epidaurus and the Peloponnese coast are easily added to any itinerary. June and September are particularly pleasant.

Charter Considerations

Greek TEPAI charter permit required. Hydra's inner harbour is very popular — arrive early for a berth or anchor outside. APA 30–35%. Euro currency. The Saronic is an excellent choice for guests flying into Athens — Piraeus marina is just 30 minutes from the airport.
